Dr. Pablo Castillo-Ortiz is a Visiting Professor at Esade Law School, in Spain. He carries out an interdisciplinary Law and Politics research about European integration, courts and democracy. Dr Castillo-Ortiz has recently published a new monograph entitled 'The Eurosceptic Mobilization of Constitutional Law' with OUP (co-authored with Prof. Martinico). He has also published work with, inter alia, Journal of Common Market Studies and International Journal of Constitutional Law (I-Con). He joined the JDC in June 2025, and he is joining again in May-June 2026 as a Mercator Fellow, to work with Professor Mark Dawson on how Eurosceptic parties mutate their stances and strategies when reaching power in Member States.
